Why Frame Me? Part 5

The international manhunt sparked a media frenzy, which Ingham County Prosecutor Donal Martin used as his personal campaign vehicle.  Anyone in the Lansing area can attest to the grotesque media orgy Donald Martin orchestrated in the summer of 1996.  When I was arrested and brought back to Michigan, I wasn't brought straight back to Calhoun County where I'd stand trial, Donald Martin arranged for me to be flown to Lansing Airport, where he was waiting to grandstand in front of the news cameras.

Ingham County Prosecutor Donal Martin then motioned the courts to appoint him as a Special Prosecuting Attorney in Calhoun County, so he would get all of the attention from prosecuting the case.  However, after my Preliminary Examination, Donald Martin lost his bid for reelection.  When asked by Calhoun County to remain on the case as the Special Prosecuting Attorney, Donald Martin refused.  Donal Martin no longer wanted anything to do with the case he created.

Because the case was already set for trial based on Bill Brown's testimony and grossly over publicized, Calhoun County was now forced to continue with the prosecution as it stood, or admit that Ingham County had been knowingly pursuing a fraudulent case against me.  Calhoun county was unfamiliar with the cases complexities and they relied on information they received from Inghan County's one-sided investigation.  Calhoun County was now stuck with former Ingham County Prosecutor Donald Martin's mess.
